Skeezman Retreat

This family home is placed strategically within a tightly bounded space, with vineyards to the North, orchards to the South, a lake to the West and steep hillside to East. Four wings progressively terrace up the hillside, creating an intimate scale for living, taking advantage of the views over the lake, and creating shaded outdoor living areas in the spaces

The Outcome

The entrance to the house occurs through a glass and steel vestibule, leading to the main spine of the home with doors and windows opening out onto a courtyard. The monumental hallway lined on both sides by concrete columns ends in a formal dining room at one end, where as it terminates in an entertainment space at the other end, complete with fireplace and wet bar.

“Wyatt Asher's new house rises up the steep hillside of Berkeley, creating a sense of drama and mystery at every turn.”
